Although we often think of digital disasters as being a software failure, aka the blue screen of death, there are several other ways we put our digital devices (where our data lives) at risk. Those words stop us in our tracks. We frown and cross our arms. Windows 8.1 looks weird. There isn’t a Start button. Why can’t we close a program? We just don’t like it and it’s too much work to figure out something so radically different.
As a techie type girl I have seen the studies and opinions regarding our relationship with our cell phones. I got my first cell phone in college – the size of your average hardback book and only to be used in the car.
I believe that it’s okay if I am not immediately available.When I am home I don’t always keep my phone at my side; don’t have it set to alert me to new emails or Facebook posts. There are specific ringtones for specific people so I can decide if a call or text is worth interrupting my work.
